Tidy Town Fest - The Big Barrow Clean Up
A litter-pick festival bringing together organisations, businesses, schools and volunteer groups is set to sweep across Barrow next month.
‘Tidy Town Fest – The Big Barrow Clean Up’ takes place from 23 -29 March 2026 at various locations across the town.
The festival aligns with the national Great British Spring Clean, bringing people together to improve the places where they live, work and travel. Tidy Town Fest aims to make a difference to the environment on our doorstep creating cleaner streets and brighter greener spaces to make walking, wheeling and cycling for everyday journeys easier, safer and more enjoyable for all.
How to get involved!
Groups, businesses, schools and individuals can get involved by hosting a litter pick in their local area at any point during the festival week. Whether it’s a workplace clean‑up, a community effort, a school activity or a volunteer‑led event, every contribution will help create a cleaner, greener and more welcoming Barrow.
Residents can get involved by joining one of the many litter picks taking place. See the full list below. Events open to the public include a link for further information.

Travel Actively Barrow Development Officer, Siona Hartley said; “Tidy Town Fest is about more than picking up litter. It’s about community pride, healthier streets and inspiring people to move more in places they feel good about. We hope residents will join us in beautifying Barrow’s streets, parks, green spaces, beaches, shopping areas and everyday routes. When we come together, we can make a real and lasting difference.”
