Pedal Together In Carlisle This Summer!
A new series of free guided cycle rides is set to launch in Carlisle this August, offering residents of all ages the chance to boost their confidence on two wheels while enjoying gentle social rides through the city.

The Pedal Together rides will run throughout August, September and October, providing short, easy routes designed to help people feel more comfortable using their bikes for everyday journeys. Whether you’re returning to cycling or just want to meet like-minded people, these rides promise a relaxed, friendly way to get pedalling.
Active Cumbria Travel Actively Development Officer, Chris Tolley said “This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wants to cycle more but needs a little encouragement.
“The rides are gentle, fully guided, and a great way to meet and chat with people who share an interest in getting around Carlisle by bike.”
To keep everyone safe and ensure the rides are enjoyable for all, a few simple ground rules apply:
- Participants must be able to ride a bike.
- Children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.
- Bikes must be roadworthy and safe to ride.
- Helmets must be worn by all riders.
- If you plan to stay for refreshments, please bring a bike lock.
- E-bikes are welcome, but riders must stick to the pace set by the ride leader.
Each ride is limited to eight places and booking in advance is essential.
So dust off your bike, grab your helmet, and join Pedal Together this summer and autumn for a gentle ride, good conversation, and a boost to your cycling confidence.
